Maitland grew up on a sheep, beef and cropping farm in the Wairarapa before obtaining a Zoology degree from the University of Canterbury in 1994.
He has worked as a project manager in information technology and agricultural-related research.
Maitland has spent the last 12 years’ working for levy-based organisations working in research and farm extension, focusing on farmer wellbeing, feed and farm systems and the environment.
He joined the NZPork team in May 2021
